Rolex began in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis, founded by Hans Wilsdorf in London. They focused on elegant, reliable wristwatches, a novelty then. The name Rolex was trademarked in 1908. After WWI, the company relocated to Geneva, Switzerland, the heart of watchmaking, and became Rolex SA.
