Seiko’s roots began in 1881 when a young Kintaro Hattori opened a watch repair shop in Tokyo. Eleven years later, his venture, Seikosha, produced its first clocks. “Seiko” itself translates to “exquisite” or “success,” foreshadowing the brand’s future as a renowned watchmaker.
